Calculate a project

To see the output values in a project, you need to calculate them. During calculation, the inputs will be collected from the project and other hierarchy documents (for example, discount rates will be taken from Calculation Parameters) and processed to produced results. These results are not stored anywhere and will be discarded when you close the project; to save the results, you need to run a Result Set calculation (see Result Sets). Similarly, if you change any input values, you need to recalculate the project to see the updated results.

To run a calculation, click Calculate button on the Palantir tab on the ribbon. A progress window will be displayed. When the calculation is finished, the output cells will be populated with the calculated results.

Note: For information about how CASH calculates inflated and escalated values, see Inflation and escalation.

Once the project has been calculated, a file known as the calculation log is created (see Calculation logs). It shows calculation details which include all sensitivity and weighting settings, warnings and error messages. To view the calculation log, click on The View Log button on the Palantir tab on the ribbon.
